Descanso Gardens is located in la caÑada flintridge, a small community nestled just north of pasadena and glendale. our wedding coordinator advised that based on traffic patterns, the SHORT 10-15 minute commute will likely be smoother from pasadena rather than glendale.

The bride and groom will be staying at The langham huntington pasadena (pictured above).

Activities

Pasadena is only about 35 minutes from West LA, meaning all of Los Angeles (Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Malibu) is truly at your disposal during your stay!  While there are infinite attractions in Los Angeles, we want to share some awesome things to do for those who anticipate spending most of their weekend in Pasadena near where the wedding will be held.  If you need any further insights to plan some fun while you visit don't hesitate to email Dimitra (dimitrajc@gmail.com) or Jordan (weissja36@gmail.com).

Norton Simon Museum

The Norton Simon Museum is known around the world as one of the most remarkable private art collections ever assembled. Over a 30-year period, industrialist Norton Simon (1907–1993) amassed an astonishing collection of European art from the Renaissance to the 20th century and a stellar collection of South and Southeast Asian art spanning 2,000 years. Modern and Contemporary Art from Europe and the United States, acquired by the former Pasadena Art Museum, also occupies an important place in the Museum’s collections.

eaton canyon falls

The forty-foot waterfall in Eaton Canyon fills an amphitheater at the top of Eaton Canyon Trail, tumbling into a wide pool that you can rest alongside or wade in. The waist-deep water is so refreshing, you are likely to see hikers in bathing suits on a warm day. The hike to Eaton Canyon Falls can be summed up this way: 1.1 miles of wide flat, relatively uneventful dirt trail, followed by 0.65 miles of single track up a narrow canyon that is adventurous and fun (forming a 3.5 mile round trip hike with 375 feet of elevation gain)

Huntington Library

The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens is a collections-based educational and research institution established by Henry E. Huntington in 1919. In addition to the library, the institution houses an extensive art collection with a focus in 18th and 19th-century European art and 17th to mid-20th-century American art. The property also includes approximately 120 acres of specialized botanical landscaped gardens, most notably the "Japanese Garden", the "Desert Garden", and the "Chinese Garden."

Brookside Golf club

Reminiscent of an early era, Brookside Golf Club is steeped in 75 years of golf tradition, and the Koiner Golf Course is no exception. Designed by William Bell, this 7,104-yard 18-hole golf course allows golfers use of every club in the bag—the layout is full of challenges and surprises, all set within Pasadena’s peaceful parkland beauty.

Chef Bruce Kalman and Marie Petulla partnered to open UNION, a 50-seat restaurant and bar featuring a deeply personal, seasonally Californian interpretation of Northern Italian cuisine.
